Dear Pinewood Families,

The regional track meet was very successful for Pinewood. We will be sending approximately 30 students to the district track meet. It shows that practice, determination, and commitment can help us reach our goals.

Over the next three weeks we will be hosting out Starting with Stories sessions for our incoming Kindergarten students and their families. Please see the information below:

Kindergarten parents, please click here to view a copy of the letter being sent home to advise you of Septmeber procedures.

On Friday, April 28 we had a successful full earthquake release at Pinewood. Thank you to all parents and guardians who helped test our processes. Please continue to ensure Emergency Release and other information is up to date and accurate in PARENT CONNECT. Please login to each child's account and check that the information is the same for each child. Please click here to view instructions for completing this information.

The weather is still not terrific. Kids will be spending as much time outside as possible so please ensure they come dressed appropriately. It is also recommeded that kids of all ages keep some extra clothes at school in case of a slip in the mud or a puddle.

At this time of year, the office staff start preparing for the number of students coming to Pinewood for the next school year. If you know of anyone who lives in the Pinewood catchment, or doesn't but wants to come to Pinewood, please encourage them to register as soon as possible. Also, if you know your child will not be returning to Pinewood in the fall, please give the school a call. Another aspect of planning for next year is the placement of students in classes. Our staff know the children and how they are able to navigate the school context and do an excellent job considering many, many factors when determining the best placement of students into new classes. If parents would like to share some thoughts about social/emotional/academic concerns they have for placing their children in classes, please download a Placement Consideration Request form or pick one up from the school office. The input provided may be used to assist in class building. Please have any completed forms returned to the school by Wednesday, May 31.
