Dear Pinewood Families,
We hope you all have had a wonderful summer holiday, with lots of time for fun, relaxation and connection with friends and family. There are still a few days left of summer to enjoy, but we would like to share some important information to help you plan for the opening week of school.
The office is now open for the school year daily from 8:30am-3:30pm. If you would like to register your child, please do so between Tuesday, August 26 and Friday, August 29, 2025. If you need to register a child for school, please contact our administrative assistant,
Mrs. Verma, at 604-590-3357 or sverma@deltaschools.ca and she will be able to assist you with the process.
Tentative classes were put together in the spring, however, final organization cannot be done until September, as there are many families who will arrive or leave during the summer months. Our goal is to create the least disruptive start for all students.
We will move in to new classes as soon as possible, once plans are finalized.
Please read the following section carefully as it explains how students in Grades 1 – 7 will be organized for the first week of school (new Kindergarten students have already received information regarding the September gradual entry schedule):
- Students in Grades 1 – 7 will return to school on Tuesday, September 2, 2025,
from 9:00 – 12:00 pm - All returning students will report to the classroom that they were in during the previous school year
- New Kindergarten students should follow the gradual entry schedule that was emailed to them
- All new students entering Grade 1-7 will report to the GYM
- School hours during the first week back will be as follows:
Tuesday September 2nd – 9:00am – 12:00 pm only (half day only for students)
Wednesday 3rd /Thursday 4th /Friday 5th – 9:00am – 3:00 pm
During the first week of school, most students entering Grades 2– 7 will work with the teacher they had during the 2024-25 school year. However, some students will work with other teachers, as their last year teacher may have moved schools or will be needed in other roles.
For the first day, Ms. Alana’s and Ms. Carley’s former students from last year are to line up at their previous Kindergarten classrooms, and they will re-connect for 15 minutes. Assigned staff will then walk them to the classrooms that they will be working in and our teachers will work with them until they have been assigned to their new teacher/classroom.
Some students will be entering and exiting at new classrooms on Wednesday. Students will receive a slip of paper at the end of the day on Tuesday that will let parents know where the new drop off and pick up location is. We will also have staff outside to help parents find the new rooms.
During the first week of school, students are asked to only bring a limited amount of school supplies (pencil box containing pencils and pens, pencil crayons, scissors, etc.). All other supplies should be left at home until they are assigned to their classes for the year. Our school supply lists can be found at the following link:
